Beechwood lost the toss and were asked to bat. The pitch looked like it would be helpful to both batsmen and bowlers but as it turned out it was very slow and certainly favoured bowlers.

Beechwood were immediately in trouble as Hill decided to do some early charity work by missing a straight one and Kelly was bowled off his pads. Woodward then nicked one to the keeper and Beechwood were 5 for 3. Warner and Freeman set about rebuilding the innings but runs were at a premium. They had steadied the ship when Warner was out for 20 to a sharp catch. Freeman was joined by Salmon and they grittily pushed the score into the 90s before Salmon perished. Freeman was finally out for a determined 41 and with a little help from the tail Beechwood were finally all out for 128.

Beechwood knew they needed to generate some early pressure and both Hill and McCrea bowled a useful line and length early on culminating in Hill taking the first wicket courtesy of a sharp catch by Makin standing up to the stumps.

McCrea then weighed in with a couple of wickets, one of which was a catch taken by Colin 'Some people thought I was going to drop that' Robinson. McCrea was now in the groove and causing chaos, Makin was also doing a fine job behind the timbers standing up and putting pressure on the batsmen, although 2 dropped catches and 2 missed stumpings meant that there would be a healthy balance in the Beer Fund.

The opposition were now 12 for 4, they managed to stop the rot but still needed 87 to win when 20 overs started. McCrea soon snuffed out any sense of victory by picking up another 2 wickets and ending up with 4 for 10 from 11 overs.

Cooksley was introduced to the attack and brought some variety to the match. This seemed to confuse the opposition and induced a sharp stumping from Makin. Boss was also brought on and enthusiastically asked for an LBW decision which was given eventually. Cooksley finished the match off bowling the last batsman and Chislehurst & West Kent were dismissed for 57.
