Steve Cooksley's Dream XI

1. Tony Freeman (capt)
"Unbelievably consistent opener, he has given us a firm foundation for the middle order to open their shoulders for many, many matches. Also has carried his bat when those around him were losing their heads on plenty of occasions. A good captain too, will back his players on the field and will usually wait until you get in the bar before slagging you off."

2. Dean Kelly
"Very technically-pleasing to watch, committed to the cause and is a lot more relaxed about cricket these days. More confidence will surely produce more runs from probably our best current batsman. Still mad as a fish though."

3. Tim Johnson
"Just completely merciless to all opposition bowlers - if they don't get him early, they will never get him."

4. Adrian Warner
"90's Warner was just a bowling machine - a captain and keeper's dream, would literally grind out wickets. 21st century Warner is a devastating batsman, can reduce pie-chuckers to quivering wrecks."

5. Bradley Hill
"A very handy bowler when he gets the perfect length, and like Warner, can put on a big score in the blink of an eye. Another matchwinner."

6. Graham Rogers
"Wonderful bowler, seems to have found a yard of pace since leaving Beechwood, possibly because he no longer has to carry so many people on his shoulders. Again, a quality batsman, very elegant."

7. Richard Valentine
"Zulu was a revelation for Beechwood last year, very aggressive both bowling and batting, great slip fielder, a natural athlete."

8. Joe Marsh
"Slight in build, absolute lightning bowler at times. Also a very decent bat. An absolute nutcase, the poor children."

9. Lee Bates
"Absolute master of controlled-bowling, can swing a ball miles, far too much for most average batsman to get anywhere near. A fiery character on occasions, but also a decent bloke in the bar, stop me if you've heard this one before.."

10. Ian McCrea (wkt)
"A fine athletic often-mute keeper, Macca does the simple things well and occasionally pulls off the extraordinary as well. Also a very accomplished off-break bowler who can easily keep an end quiet."

11. Ashley Woodward
"At full-fitness an absolute brute of a bowler, who could convince more experienced batsmen maybe it was time to retire."

12th man: Prashan Patel
"Had to pick a spinner somewhere, and Prashan is one of the best leggies around. I should know, he told me so."
